SF Glens Evolution competitive soccer program is for girls and boys, U9 and older (birth year 2011 - 2000), who want to work hard, develop their skills and soccer experience, and compete against the best players in the most competitive playing leagues and competitions.
We offer a complete player development path for all levels of competitive players and teams. And due to our access to non-city fields and facilities, we can provide players a chance to compete in the top leagues and top state competitions earlier than any other program here in San Francisco.
Our competitive program features top coaches (more licensed coaches than any club in San Francisco), a committed technical staff, and access to added training, events, and soccer experiences (some of our top players and teams travel abroad to experience professional academies). Everything is geared toward player development based upon a club model (multiple teams per age group), as well as a proven curriculum of technical skills accompanied by a carefully planned and age-appropriate introduction to tactics.
With competitive soccer at SF Glens Evolution, the commitment level from the players and families is more demanding. Our competitive teams train, at a minimum, two times per week with the top teams often securing additional private training time and clinics.
Additionally, competitive teams typically participate in both the level-appropriate tournaments we host as well as two to four other high profile tournaments annually, some of which may require teams to travel for overnight stays or possibly out of state for games.
Playing time Policy: playing time requirements varies at each program. Below is the breakdown
SF Competitive League (formally CCSL Prep) : 40% Minimum
NorCal Travel: 40% Minimum*
Celtic Academy: 25% Minimum*
* Playing time can be affectedby practice attendance
Guest player Policy
SF Competitive League (formally CCSL Prep) : SF Youth Soccer decides on guest playing policy. The league allowed the guest playing for Fall 2017 but did not allow for Spring 2018. If there is no guest playing policy for SF competitive league, a player will need to play for only one team during a season.
NorCal Travel and Celtic Academy: Travel teams and Celtic Academy teams competing in the NorCal premier league are free to guest on other NorCal travel teams within the club. Our guest policy is to allow players extra opportunities to get game experience following a "club model". Players who are excelling at their current level will have the opportunity to play at a higher level or age group to offer an expansive development program.
SF Residency Requirement
SFGE programs are designed for SF residents with limited exceptions. Teams U14 and under (birth year 2004 and younger) are allowed to have two non SF residents on the team. Teams U15 and up (birth year 2003 and older) are allowed to have three non SF residents on the team in order to meet the residency requirement to receive SFRPD fields for practice and games. Currently all SFGE competitive teams meet SF residency requirement except Development Academy U12 boys teams. Development Academy U12 teams practice and have games at non SFRPD fields. Non SFRPD fields includes Daly City fields and privately purchased indoor gym space located in SF.
