Goalkeeper Academy FAQ
Here under you can find some answers to the most common questions. In case your question is not in the list, please feel welcome to send an email to email@example.com .
Q: When will I know to what group my son/daughter is assigned for Spring 2019 Goalkeeper training? when will I know the time and location of practice(s)?
For existing players, an initial communication was sent to parents at the end of February. Confirmation and payments are expected by March 13th. Practices will start between March 15th and March 20th, depending on the assigned group. For newly-registered players, communications was sent in early March 4. Confirmations and payments are also expected by March 13th.
Q: Will adjustments be made after the groups and schedules are communicated?
We plan to use the first week of practice to validate our choice of assigning players in groups of equivalent levels of goalkeeping proficiency. Adjustments may be made all the way until end of March, when we will freeze the rosters and practice times for the season. To the extend possible we will also try to adjust to specific logistic requirements some parents may have.
Q: What if for unforeseen family reasons we need to change times of practice attendance?
It is virtually impossible for us to anticipate all problems and combinations. If you have a problem with the assigned practice times, please contact us and to the extent we can we will try to find alternative solutions.
Q: What is the structure of the Spring 2019 season program?
Players born in or after 2009 practice once a week, on Friday afternoon for 90 minutes. All GK practices are in addition to team practice(s). Practices are starting on Friday March 15th and will end on Friday May 17th. There is a charge to cover for field rental and trainers.
Players born in 2007 and 2008 practice once a week, on Monday afternoon for 90 minutes. All GK practices are in addition to team practice(s). Practices are starting on February 18th and will end on May 20th. There is a charge to cover for field rental and trainers. Competitive Players born in 2006 and 2005 practice once/twice a week with a GK Coach and once/twice a week with their respective teams. The exact balance will be decided jointly and in a case by case together with the team’s Head Coach. Practices are on Wednesday and Thursday, starting on March 20th and will end on May 23rd. There is a charge to cover for the second day field rental.
Competitive Players born in 2004 or earlier practice twice/week with a GK coach and once/week with their teams. The team’s Head Coach may decide to adjust the balance as he/she sees the need for it. Practices are planned to start on March 12th and end on the week of May 23rd, except for those teams that have June/July 2019 games in their schedule. The cost of GK training is already included in the yearly club fee.
Q: We have heard there will be a SFGE Goalkeeper Academy jersey. Can you tell me more?
We plan to have SFGE Goalkeeper Academy branded jerseys. We are currently still working with our official equipment supplier, Soccerloco, to find the best combination of price/quality and delivery time. Unfortunately availability is an issue and it is likely the jersey may only be available starting this Summer. Players will be expected to wear the jersey at all practices. The jersey can also be used during games.
Q: Is the program open to non-SFGE players?
While the season training is intended for SFGE registered players, we are open to accept other players if spots become available. Clinics are generally open to non-SFGE players. SFGE club members have priority and a lower fee. If you know of a player who wants to try, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org . We will be contacting the family and offer a time for player’s evaluation. Please be aware there are League rules we need to honor, and that may limit what we can and cannot do with non-SFGE players.
