ABOUT SF GLENS EVOLUTION
SF Glens Evolution is the largest non-profit youth soccer club in San Francisco, formed from the merging of two clubs, Evolution FC and SF Glens, to provide a unique soccer product that is accessible for all families in San Francisco. SFGE offers every level of play for its members, from recreational to competitive soccer.
SFGE was recently awarded the highest level of youth competition in the United States when they obtained US Soccer Development Academy status. In addition to programs on the field, SFGE also offers educational opportunities for its members. “SFGE Homework Club” was launched last fall to prepare middle school students for the High School Placement Tests. Other programs that SFGE administer are: community days of action, college nights, coaches education programs and supporting local school festivals.
SFGE is very excited to announce that San Francisco Glens Evolution has been accepted as a US Soccer Development Academy program! This is the highest level of competition for youth soccer in the United States.
Due to our success on and off the field, with our player development model and one of the best coaching lineups in the Bay Area, US Soccer felt that our club deserved this honor.
SFGE is true to its values; we develop our players and promote a true club feel.
What is the Development Academy Program?
Following a comprehensive review of elite player development in the United States and around the world, U.S. Soccer created the Development Academy in 2007. The Academy Program's philosophy is based on increased training, less total games, and more meaningful games using international rules of competition.
The Academy Program focuses on positively impacting everyday club environments to assist in maximizing youth player development across the country. The Academy values individual development of elite players over winning trophies and titles. The Academy sets the standard for elite environments for youth soccer clubs nationwide and is a part of U.S. Soccer's global leadership position in youth soccer that will impact thousands of players.
In December 2016, SFGE made an exciting announcement that outlined the creation of the Celtic Academy. The Celtic Academy was created in conjunction with Celtic FC and SFGE to provide a top-level competitive program that will provide the best environment for the city's best players. This exciting development has been in the works for a long time and we are ecstatic to be able to offer a wholesome program to for competitive players in San Francisco. The program will include top licensed coaches, academic support, comprehensive player pathway, and player identification among other benefits. The city has never seen a program that will serve our competitive players with the tools to succeed in life. To learn more about the groundbreaking Celtic Academy, Click Here
While at the convention, club DoC, Mike McNeill, was recognized with the NSCAA Coach of the Year for the Western US, a prestigious honor. We're very proud of Mike's accomplishments and this award shows the direction of coaching within the club. Congratulations Mike! To learn more about this award, Click Here

We hope you are having a great Summer and are just about eager to get started with the soccer season. In the last couple of months the Club has been working hard. In fact, we have completed the integration phase between SF Glens and Evolution FC, and all teams are now merged.
This message is to formally announce to all players and families of SFGE that theGoalkeeper Academy program is launching in its full format for Fall 2016.
We are kindly asking all parents of a boy or girl born in 2008 who has expressed interest in playing the position, or who simply want to try, to reply back to this message. We need those names to organize classes, coaches and practices.
All players who joined the Spring Season have already received a separate message. If you are one of them and have not seen a message from us, please speak up and we’ll fix it. If you have not joined the program in the Spring, but wish to do it now, please send us your name with the year of birth and the name of the team.
Over the past few weeks we have been busy further developing the content of the program, adjusting to the learnings from the Spring Season and factoring in the comments many of you shared with us. We will continue to learn and improve as we run it, but we feel we already have the best and most complete GK program in San Francisco, absolutely comparable to what the top Bay Area Clubs offer.
SFGE takes GK Development very seriously. We are asking our players to reciprocate by committing to the program. We are asking them and their parents, in this order, to commit to join practices, to be on time, to make this training a priority and to focus their energies on their improvement. On our end, we have a line up of experienced, USSF or CYSA licenced coaches, who also played the position and a methodology that is aligned to the best soccer schools. We’ll make it a fun environment and age appropriate so learning is maximized.
There is no additional charge for this program for Competitive Players as it is included in the yearly fee. We also plan to offer specialized clinics and international camps. These programs will be at a charge but not mandatory, and we’ll honor the Club objective of offering the best quality soccer at the most affordable price. We do not want cost to be a reason for not joining for anyone.
Finally, I am happy to announce Nemanja Colovic has accepted to be the Director of the GK Academy Program starting immediately, and therefore he will take over from me in driving the program to its next phase. Nemanja was one of the coaches in the Spring program, so he is very familiar with the Club and with what we are trying to achieve. His curriculum and experience give us a great lead for the program. Nemanja and I will be operating jointly until the end of August. Please include him in your communications. His email address is email@example.com
Once again, parents of 2008 boys or girls, please let us know if you son or daughter is interested in joining the program for the Fall. It is fine if it is tentative. You will have 2 weeks to confirm or cancel.
Go SF Glens Evolution!
